One of the causes of failure that I have witnessed through my struggles as entrepreneur is poor time management. It doesn’t matter if you are a woman or a man, if you are not on top of your game at all times, you will more than likely regret it at the end of the day. If you asked the majority of the most successful women entrepreneurs today, what is the one thing that they can point to that they do best, chances are one of the leading responses will be they manage their time effectively.
For this post, I have put together a list of seven of the top ways that everyone should be doing in order to put your business in the best possible position to be successful.
Top 7 Success and Time Mastery Tips to Stay Focused and Productive
1. Start the day with purpose
Starting your day with a purpose is recognized as one of the biggest motivators in the business world. In order to give yourself the best possible means to be successful, you need to identify the purpose for your day and go after it.
2. Set up a plan to achieve the day’s goal
Each day should begin with a plan of what needs to accomplish and how you expect everything to be accomplished. Part of that plan is to establish priorities of what needs to be done for the day.
3. Set a singular priority for the day
It is perfectly normal to set up a “to do list” at the beginning of the day and spend your day knocking each one out. However, the more successful women are the ones who identify one singular priority and make it the one that has to be done and make it priority one.
4. Use a calendar and schedule your priority goal
Use a calendar and lock your priority goal in stone and everything else can be adjusted after it. If you are still using paper and pencil the old fashioned way, write your priority in pen and rest in pencil. This will make it harder for you to stray from your original priority and make sure it is accomplished first.
5. Set yourself deadlines for accomplishing your daily goals
In order to be able to accomplish everything, you have planned for the day you have to be able to set specific time deadlines for each and every goal. Without an effective set of deadlines, you cannot really manage your time in the day. If you have a good handle on the workload from the beginning, you will know whether you set aside enough time to accomplish everything.
6. Saying “No” has to be in your vocabulary
One of the biggest enemies of time is over the scheduling of work and then compounding the problem by accepting more and more as the day goes on. You simply need to set a realistic schedule and stick to it. Saying “no” is not always a bad thing and it can make things easier for you to be able to get the most accomplished in the allotted amount of time.
7. Take a few minutes to acknowledge when you accomplish a goal
While it might be in your nature to continue working after accomplishing a task in order to get as much done as possible. However, you really need to take the time to acknowledge the success of accomplishing each individual goal. Come up with a small way to keep track of those daily accomplishments, like a journal. This will go along ways in helping to motivate you to strive for more.
